Personal data

It has made personal data much easier because a lot of people can now just fill out surveys and things that they need to instead of having to go out to deliver and fill out forms. This has been made easier by the internet because people can fill out online surveys/quizzes and can submit them online which is a fast and more efficient way of doing things. With doing this this way, people can also be checked to see whether they have/have not filled out the form and can email or text them to remind them to do it.

Denial of service

This is where someone denies you access to your Data or your ISP denies you internet. These can be very annoying as you may not be able to do work for your job.  IT may have made connecting to the internet easier but it did also give birth to another money making scheme. Facebook is a large money making scheme as many people around the world have Facebook which is making the owner a lot of money.  This could be abused as you could be being made into paying more than you need to be paying. Also some people who run cloud storages cannot give you the data you stored on them unless you pay an amount to unlock your storage which could be bad if you was to be working within a job and needed the data.

Phishing

Phishing is where people make a fake website for example in order to steal money from innocent people. This has increased through the power of the internet as now you can make a fake website/email requesting that people need to renew or re-enter their banking information, then they use their information to steal money from them. This is a very big negative as some vulnerable people believe the fake websites or e-mails and end up losing money and being stolen from.

Spam

Spam has increased hugely due to IT as it has become really easy to send different people around the world things through email for example. Spam is where a person sends something unwantedly or repeatedly to a person when they don’t want it like when you sign up for a website and it says in small print that they send your information to third parties and you allow it without knowing and they send a lot of spam emails of their business that you didn’t want.

Cyber bullying

Cyber bullying has had a massive increase due to IT as almost everybody in the world has computers and use the internet which has many different forms of social media which many people have access to. A few people on the internet do a thing called ‘trolling’. This involves a person who makes other people feel bad for their own enjoyment. This has a huge negative effect on people as it makes people feel bad about themselves which can lead to self-harm or suicide.

Inequality of access

The amount of access is completely different all over the world because they have different amounts of money so they don’t have computers and mobile phones and things as they can’t afford them or their country doesn’t allow technology like this as it could damage their economy and their society. This is negative for some countries because that means that they don’t have as much technology as other places which will put them behind on things.

Ethical

The ethical act has changed a lot due to IT. The internet has been the biggest change to this as lots of unethical acts have been posted on the internet like for example, racist behavior, animals being beaten and sexual videos of celebrities. All these things are seen to be unethical and due to the internet, many different people can now see things like this and people start to think that as people do these things regularly, they start to think that they are okay to do and is normal and acceptable when they’re not.

Legal

It has changed the legal side of things because now everything can be stored electronically which is a lot easier for people to do quick check-ups on people to see if they have any bad history. Also this has changed things because now letters and different information can be easily checked for errors and cannot be lost as easily as it can be stored onto a computer and backed-up. Also it has become a lot easier for people to steal/copy other people’s work and designs and use them as their own which is against the law.

Economic impact and working practices, de-skilling

IT has had a big impact on the economy as it has increased the amount of ways that people can pay for things in shops like they can scan their credit/debit card on a machine instead of having to enter a pin number. Also people are losing jobs because machines and computers are taking over jobs and machines are becoming smarter than humans so they will take over the jobs around the world. The jobs that have been de-skilled are jobs like accountants as now they don’t have to do as much maths as they can use things like Microsoft Excel and use money counters which helps them. Also, machines are taking over car manufacturing as well as the machines are making the cars automatically. Work practices have changed as people don’t speak to each other to get help as much anymore as they can find solutions on the internet.

Society

IT has changed society the most because people can just use social media, this is fast, effortless method used worldwide by many people. It is a free way to communicate with people from around the world. The internet has been the main cause of society being stronger as it can allow people to speak with people from all over the world and interact with people who you may have not been able to speak to for different reasons. Also a big negative effect of the internet on society is that people who send sexual images of themselves to other people could fall out with the people they have sent them too and can end up humiliated with their pictures posted all over social media like on twitter and Instagram. Also, Facebook and twitter and Instagram, you can easily make new profiles, in doing this then people can make accounts being somebody else and bullying somebody else they do this by copying their profile identically so they can get the other person into a lot of trouble.

Communities

IT has changed communities because people have become more anti-social and people have become less likely to go out and meet people as they can just go onto social media like Facebook and message each other on there. Sometimes the internet can make communities stronger as they can create events on different social media and invite people from around the world and can help people reunite.

Individuals

IT has changed individuals because IT has allowed people to interact with other people everywhere. Also learning has become easier because people can just search for information on the internet rather than having to ask people about it and reading books to find answers. Also, people have become lazier as they don’t even have to leave their house to do day to day things like do their shopping as they can now do that online. People like the disabled can benefit from this as they might not be able to move around long distances.
